These are some of the ways people describe the Internal Family Systems model I work within.

About the IFS process

Internal Family Systems (IFS for short) is a beautiful and transformative way of getting to know all parts of ourselves. We are all complex beings with a whole range of life experiences and influences. These influence the ways we feel, think and behave. Sometimes these lie just out of our awareness and we can wonder why life feels so hard. Why we feel stuck. Why we just can’t get things together.

Some of our familiar patterns we might be very aware of. Sometimes they show up as strong emotions that we might want to quickly push away or distract ourselves from.

IFS calls these the “parts” of ourselves and gives us a way to get to know and understand them. In time that brings more harmony to our inner world. As we get to know our Selves we discover we have have more strengths and capacity than we realised. We are then able to bring that into the outer world, living with more confidence, courage and connection. We can go about our lives with more ease and lightness. We are more equipped to meet life’s challenges with calm, compassion and clarity.

Sounds almost too good to be true doesn’t it? I know that many of us have tried so many ways to deal with our fears, anxieties and challenges. We may now believe that nothing is going to help. If so you might find it encourage to read other people’s experiences of IFS. FIND LINKS

Some of us like to know more about what is involved first. If that’s you, you can read more about what an IFS session with me might look and feel like HERE (link).

Some of us like to understand how everything works. You can find links to various articles, podcasts etc here.

There is no substitute though for experiencing it yourself. If IFS feels like what you have been looking for, please reach out with any questions or to set up a discovery call.

About me

"Working with Sarah has been an incredible, deeply neuro-affirming and genuinely life-affirming experience - she brings such warmth, insight, and understanding to the work that she does, and I have found our sessions profoundly supportive and transformative. I can’t recommend her highly enough."

IFS Practitioner

Level 2 trained and experienced

I first discovered IFS through doing my own inner work. I loved the approach so much that I took a deep dive into every IFS training and opportunity I could. IFS has transformed the way I approach life. It is now woven into my daily life. I’d love the chance to support you to bring it into your life too.

My Approach

Coaching not therapy

My work is to help you to find your path to living your life with more freedom and joy. I am not a psychotherapist, counsellor or psychologist, and I do not provide specialist mental health care. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need clinical or medical support, please contact the relevant services for help.

Spirituality

Supporting your journey

No spiritual or religious practices or beliefs is needed for IFS. Many people who do have an interest in spirituality do find IFS helps them to connect with something bigger than themselves.

In another strand of my life, I am also a mediation teacher in the Zen Buddhist tradition. I am comfortable in guiding and supporting people to explore spiritual aspects to life and to integrate any spiritual experiences they have had.

Neuroaffirming

Working with your brain and body

If you are neurodivergent, especially if you are 'late realised' as such, you may have had many experiences of feeling judged or misunderstood. It is important that our sessions together work for your neurotype. We can learn and practice what works for you now you have this new knowledge about your brain.  We can also make space for your parts to share and heal any pain around this.

More about me

Moving beyond surviving

I love being in nature: wandering, stroking trees, admiring moss and raindrops and growing. Nature helps my nervous system feel grounded, connected and safe. I love music, art and 5Rythms dance which all help me find joy, freedom and flow in my life.

I love helping people to reconnect with their body and nervous system and discover what helps them feel safe and most authentically alive.
